Fiona Wright
Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
At the centre of my work is the belief that meaningful change begins with a safe and trusting relationship. I aim to create a space where young people feel respected and accepted, enabling them to explore their thoughts, behaviours and emotions without fear of judgement.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a variety of approaches and techniques to meet the unique needs of each person and help them to make sense of their world. I often incorporate creative methods such as art and play, which can help to process feelings and experiences that may be hard to put into words. My aim is to encourage young people develop greater self-awareness, confidence, resilience, and communication skills. I may also work with parents and caregivers, recognising that children thrive when the important people in their lives feel included and supported.
I offer support to children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and the impact of trauma. I particularly enjoy working with neurodiverse young people, supporting them to understand and embrace their own way of being while finding ways to navigate the world. I believe every child deserves spaces and relationships where they feel accepted and free to be themselves.
I have a particular interest in the power of group work to foster belonging and connection. For the past 10 years, I have facilitated therapeutic art groups for young people, as well as for adults supporting them, and have witnessed the transformative impact of shared experience and creative expression.
Over the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of working with children, young people, and families across the charitable, educational, social, and private sectors. Some of my previous experience includes being a Youth Worker addressing social, emotional, and relational issues, and working in schools providing educational and wellbeing support to children with SEND. My life’s work has been devoted to facilitating opportunities for children and adolescents to learn essential life skills, discover their potential, and develop a healthy sense of wellbeing.
