Araminta Scarfe
Head of Child, Adolescent and Family Service
At the heart of my work is building positive, trusting therapeutic relationships. I aim to create a space in which clients can begin to explore their life experiences, relationships, and the emotions these may bring up. In therapy, we may focus on developing strengths such as self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and self-care.
As an Integrative Therapist, I draw on a range of theoretical models to meet each client’s unique needs. At times, this extends to working with those closest to my clients, as well as other professionals, to provide a supportive and wrap-around approach to care.
I am the head of the Child, Adolescent and Family Service at Blue Door, where I speak with all new clients when they first contact the practice. My role is to help families find the right support for them or their child.
I have been working therapeutically with children, families, and adults for over 20 years. My experience includes providing emotional support within London independent day schools and supporting vulnerable children through the charity sector. Alongside my private practice work, I continue to offer therapeutic support to families in the community, building on my early career focus on the parent–child relationship. I have a particular interest in helping parents recognise how their own childhood experiences can shape their parenting style.
I work with clients across all ages, backgrounds, and a wide range of social, educational, and emotional needs. My training with The National Autistic Society supports my work with children on the autism spectrum. In addition, I am trained and experienced in group work, online therapy, and the use of creative arts in therapy. I also hold advanced qualifications in Safeguarding and Social Care.
