Andrew Siese
Systemic Family Psychotherapist
My style is to work in a friendly and open way, encouraging thoughtful reflection of family patterns, strengths and difficulties. I help locate problems in interactions rather than in people and seek to create opportunities for positive outcomes. I can work with individuals, couples and whole families depending on what is required. My approach is non-judgemental, discreet and sensitive. I have benefitted from helping people with a very wide range of difficulties and I am able to bring a broad range of skills and techniques to my therapeutic work.
I worked for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS, NHS) for 27 years, as the Lead Consultant Family / Systemic Psychotherapist. I led a team of family/systemic and art therapists across East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. This involved supervision of therapists; multi-agency work and liaising with stakeholders. I continue to work part-time for the NHS trust as a Senior Family/Systemic Psychotherapist following my decision to focus more on my therapeutic work.
I now work more often with adults, particularly in relation to parenting older/adult children and managing difficult transitions. This includes those experiencing mental and physical health challenges, separation / divorce, loss, bereavement and emotional dysregulation. When helpful and possible, I welcome wider family members into the work to facilitate communication and understanding in areas of conflict and relational breakdown.
I am married with a family – with two grown up children – and we are enjoying the recent arrival of grandchildren.
