Alexia Lonnoy
Psychotherapist
I offer a warm and accepting space where you are welcome to bring all parts of yourself, including the ones that you find most difficult to accept. I work primarily with anxiety, depression, relationships and family difficulties, intense emotionality (including personality disorders), social anxiety, anger, low self-esteem and shame. Because I usually work with long-standing emotional and behaviour patterns, my work tends to be open-ended so that we have enough time to gently unpack and understand what has been going on for you.
I believe that the goal of our existence is to become more and more fully ourselves. You might have noticed that there are parts of yourself that are preventing you from engaging fully in relationships, or that are sabotaging your professional life. Together, we will explore safely what is holding you back so that you can begin to make the changes that you are looking for in your life.
I am a Psychotherapist with a specialism in psychodrama. What this means is that I use an integration of traditional verbal techniques as well as modern embodied methods. Sometimes we will sit and talk to understand what is going on for you, and other times I will invite you to use your body to connect to parts of yourself that might be too difficult to access through language. My goal is to assist you in both uncovering the underlying reasons behind your behaviours as well as facilitating your healing process.
Alongside my work at the Blue Door Practice, I also work with individuals, couples, and groups both within the NHS, for a charity, and privately. In the NHS, I work primarily with people considered to have complex and enduring psychological difficulties.
I offer therapy in English and in French.
