Tanya Haynes is a co founder and the director of The Blue Door Practice. She manages the clinicians and takes an overview of all new clients referred to The Blue Door Practice. She is an individual, couple and family therapist who initially trained as a Counselling Psychologist and went on to specialise as a Systemic Psychotherapist.

Tanya worked as a senior Psychotherapist in the NHS for thirteen years and left in 2007 to concentrate on her private practice and consultation in which she now works full time. Alongside her primary clinical work as a therapist (individuals, couples, children and families) she provides consultation to other professionals, systemic group work and training. She co-convenes a monthly group for London physicians and psychiatrists.

She has worked intensively with families and individuals in Mumbai, India where she travelled to clinics over a four year period. She developed home treatment packages for families who wanted more intensive therapy and intervention in crisis.

Whilst Tanya now works mainly in the adult field of psychology, she also has a wealth of experience of working with young adults. Historically she had extensive experience of Child and Adolescent Mental Health in her specialised work in the NHS. She is still involved in consultation and training in education and has been a Governor at two leading prep schools and consultant to a London school.

As a Relationship Therapist she helps couples to strengthen and develop their relationship as well as having a particular experience of dealing with 'couples in trouble' with specific emphasis on the impact of marital stress/divorce proceedings. She runs a specialist clinic to help parents going through separation to prioritise the needs of children in the process. Tanya also specialises in working with same sex couples and LGBT individuals.

Tanya considers that in order for therapy to be successful it must be based upon the relationship between the therapist and client and she always offers an initial assessment to mutually explore the possibilities of working together. Tanya's position as a therapist, which is both interactive and transparent, is based on co-creating a collaborative and respectful relationship between therapist and client. She offers both short and longer term therapies.

Our therapists are either registered with one or more of the following professional registers: UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), British Psychological Society (BPS) and British Association for Counseling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
